Race of the Week- October 31st, 2020: Bold Ruler Handicap

The 2020 Bold Ruler Handicap will be Race 9 on October 31st at Belmont Park. Post time is set for 3:57 PM CT. This Grade III Race is seven furlongs and has a purse of $100,000. The race is for horses three-years old and up. There are six horses in the field this year. Last year’s winner was Maximum Security. Let’s take a look at the rankings for everyone in this year’s field.

Phat Man is the 2-1 favorite and my most likely to win. He’s won one of his last three, but finished second in both of the other two races. He’s posted speed figures of 110 in each of his last two races, which the main reason he ranks best here.

Share the Ride is my second best here. He won two starts back in the Mr. Prospector Stakes and posted a 113 speed figure, but that was an outlier for him in terms of his usual speed ratings. He posted a 103 in his last and finished third in the Vosburgh Stakes.

Mihos ranks third best here, he’s finished third, fourth and sixth in his last three. He hasn’t has the numbers the top two has, but should be considered for exotics.

Majestic Dunhill is another horse worth mentioning as he did have one of his most promising races in his last, but it still wasn’t at the level of some of the others here.

I have run the 2020 Bold Ruler Handicap 1,000 times in simulations. Below are the results of those races.

Let’s take a look at each horses speed figures over their last three starts.

Phat Man’s got to be used here. He’ll be right there at the finish line and has the track record of the best speed and has shown it consistently.

Quick Wrap Up and Betting Strategies

Most Likely to Win: 6 Phat Man

My Bet: 6-2 Exacta, 6-2-1 Trifecta

Long Shot I Like: None

Superfecta: 6-2-1-5

He’s got the best name in the field and the best speed in the field. I have to go with Phat Man here. I also think Share the Ride is most likely to be second. I like that exacta pairing and I think it could be a real solid bet here.
